Day on Canonical Life

Saturday 24th January 2009
About 30 of us - our own Community, two of our Sisters from abroad, some Canons from this county and interested lay people - met in St Joachim School Hall, Custom House, East London for a most interesting day on Canonical life, led by Abbot Jos Wouters, the Abbot of Averbode (a Norbertine Canonical Community in Belgium) and the Juridical Advisor for the Association of Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre.
Abbot Jos studied Theology and Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He later engaged in pastoral activities in the abbey’s meditation centre, in parishes and in the ecclesiastical court.

New Life in Colchester
NEW LIFE ART
The first of M. Stephen's art exhibitions in England took place in the Castle Methodist church in Colchester on the weekend of 5th - 7th December 2008. This set of some 60 pictures had just returned from 3 months on exhibition in Glasgow. They included images with a focus on Advent and Christmas and the cards of various pictures on these themes were, of course, especially popular.

In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly established the International Day of Peace (IDP) and seven years ago modified the resolution and fixed September 21st as the annual date of the IDP. The intention of the new resolution is to have the entire world observe a full day of "...global c
Evening Prayer at St Peter-on-the-Wall
Evening Prayer at the Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall, Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex - the oldest church in England
On 24th August 2008 many of the Community together with lay people linked with us, and other friends, led one of the summer Sunday evening prayer series which this year were based on Ecclesiastes 3.
We took TIME as our theme and moved from 'the circle of time' to personal reflection on time in our own personal lives - 'for me, this is a time to.....'
It was the final day of the Olympics and you can see from the pictures below that the five circles of the Olympic logo were used in various ways, ending as symbols of prayer on the altar.
As always on these summe
A Day with St Augustine
Sr Kristina CRSS & Sr Emmy OSU travelled from Belgium to lead us in a day full of reflection and new insights into the writing of Augustine of Hippo on Saturday 24th May 2008 in Chelmsford
Sr Emmy set the scene of Augustine’s place and time with maps and pictures illustrating the history and geography to emphasise what important influences these were on his work and life.
Sr Kristina focused particularly on book 10 of the Confessions reminding us that the first 9 books are history whereas book 10 gives us the reflections of the mature A
