History
We are the English Community of the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre, a part of a long–established Order which follows the Rule of Saint Augustine and has priories in other European countries, as well as Africa and South America.
The Order itself is 900 years old, and traces its roots back to Jerusalem, the traditional site of Christ’s burial and Resurrection.
The Gospel account of the Resurrection tells of the women who were the first to be aware that Christ has risen, and to be sent with that message to others. We seek to follow in the footsteps of those women.
