Day on Canonical Life

Jos Wouters

Saturday 24th January 2009

About 30 of us - our own Community, two of our Sisters from abroad, some Canons from this county and interested lay people - met in St Joachim School Hall, Custom House, East London for a most interesting day on Canonical life, led by Abbot Jos Wouters, the Abbot of Averbode (a Norbertine Canonical Community in Belgium) and the Juridical Advisor for the Association of Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre.

Abbot Jos studied Theology and Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He later engaged in pastoral activities in the abbey’s meditation centre, in parishes and in the ecclesiastical court.

It was an opportunity to meet with others of our Augustinian canonical tradition. The day ended with Evening Prayer together in St. Anne's church.
